HOUSTON – Houston Baseball’s 2021 schedule will feature 14 contests against preseason Top 25 opponents including a three-game series against No. 9 Texas inside Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park, head coach Todd Whitting announced Wednesday.
Due to limited seating capacity related to COVID-19 precautions, Houston will not allow fans for the 2021 baseball season.
SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN
The Cougars have scheduled 55 games including 28 contests inside Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park. Houston will play its first 16 games and 24 of its first 27 matchups in the state of Texas.
The Longhorns’ visit, set for March 5-7, will mark the first weekend series between the two teams in Houston since both programs were members of the Southwest Conference. The Cougars will also host former league rival Texas A&M in a midweek matchup (March 16).
Houston opens its season with four consecutive at home including a three-game set against Texas Southern (Feb. 19-21) and single game against A&M-Corpus Christi (Feb. 23). Houston caps its non-conference schedule at home against Prairie View A&M (March 24) and UT-Arlington (March 26-28).
The Cougars spend three of four weekends on the road between late February and middle March, visiting A&M-Corpus Christi at Whataburger Field (Feb. 26-28), Texas State (March 12-14) and No. 23 Oklahoma (March 19-21).
Houston takes on Wichita State eight consecutive times to open American Athletic Conference play including the first four at Schroeder Park (April 1-3). The Cougars will also host No. 25 ECU (April 16-18), USF (April 23-25) and Cincinnati (May 7-9).
In addition to Wichita State (April 9-11), Houston hits the road to face Tulane (April 30-May 2), Memphis (May 14-16) and UCF (May 20-22). The American Championship is scheduled for May 25-30 in Clearwater, Fla.
Game times will be announced at a later date.
